Jace Sheppard

Jace runs a small business, Vermont Tech Guy, LLC, where he provides technical support services to home users and small businesses. Prior to this Jace provided technical support at Hickok and Boardman Insurance Group and at IBM. Jace also works with Fletcher Allen Health Care’s Comprehensive Care Clinic to educate Vermonters on STD and HIV testing information. Jace lives with his husband and two dogs. Jace joined the board in 2010.

Marie Thresher, CIA, CISA

Marie is a financial services professional experienced in operational risk management, corporate governance and management advisory services.  Most recently, Marie served as Chief Auditor and Senior Vice President of People’s United Bank. Marie holds a B.S. in Finance from Central Connecticut State University.  She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is a past member of the Board of Directors of their Green Mountain Chapter.  She is also a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s Albany, New York Chapter. Marie enjoys hiking, yoga and exploring the local food and music of Vermont. Marie joined the Board in 2013.


Michael Schultz, EdD

In 2010 Michael founded Schultz Babler Consulting bringing his rich background of fundraising and leadership to clients throughout the US and Europe.  Previously, he served as Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Vermont.  He began his career in higher education development at the University of Wisconsin Foundation in Madison, WI and also served Salem State University in Salem, MA.  In 2009, Michael earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Vermont.  He holds an M.B.A. from Salem State University and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Michael has served on various non-profit boards in Vermont and Wisconsin.  He enjoys cooking, entertaining, attending cultural events and parenting his three children. Michael joined the Board in 2012.

Jerry G.Larrabee, MD

Jerry is a Pediatrician and Professor of Pediatrics at UVM/FAHC since 2005. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Williams College, an M.D. from Vanderbilt University, and he is currently enrolled in an M.Ed. program at UVM. He enjoys running, cycling, skiing and music. Jerry joined the Board in 2012.


Sarah Hoffert, MEd

Sarah is an Adolescent Parenting Program Coordinator at Children and Family Resource Center in Western North Carolina. Sarah holds a B.A. from Otterbein University in Westerville, OH and a M.Ed. from the University of Vermont. She began her HIV/AIDS prevention and advocacy work with diverse faith communities in rural North Carolina. Sarah enjoys hunting for vintage treasures at estate sales, tap dancing, and learning to be a better puppy parent to her dachshund mix, Russell. After living in Vermont for a number of years, Sarah sustains a connection through her Board membership, which began in 2012.

Diane L. Northrop

Diane has a B.A. with a concentration in Psychology from the Union Institute and University in Montpelier. She is a Case Manager for the Spring Lake Ranch Rutland Program and is soon to be the Assistant Advisor at their new sober-living house. Diane enjoys kayaking, downhill skiing, reading and cooking. Diane joined the Board in 2013.


Tony Godek, MA, PHR

Tony is the Human Resources & Administrative Manager at Hunger Free Vermont. He became involved in HIV/AIDS education and advocacy work in 2006 when be began overseeing the Massachusetts HIV/STD, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexual Health Hotlines at AIDS Action Committee. In 2011, he also began managing human resources and payroll for the organization. Tony received his B.A. in Psychology & Sociology from Northeastern University. He holds an M.A. from The Chicago School in Applied Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a concentration in Organizational Effectiveness, and is a certified PHR. Tony recently relocated to Vermont and connected with Vermont CARES as a way to stay involved in HIV/AIDS advocacy work locally. He lives in South Burlington with his partner. Tony joined the board in 2013.
