On a beautiful September afternoon, around 170 clients and supporters of Vermont CARES gathered to form a 100-foot human red ribbon. The red ribbon is the symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness, and our allies and those we serve are the backbone of the work CARES does every day. With such a strong showing of people symbolizing the human impact of HIV in Vermont, we had aerial and crane-borne photographs to commemorate the event. Our thanks to Above All Aerophoto and DJ’s Tree Services for supporting this event with logistics, and for the many participants who made such a lively and uplifting display of support for those we serve. We raised over $5,000 to support our work through generous corporate sponsors and through selling red t-shirts at $10 each.
For next year’s Red Ribbon Rally, we are collecting other ways of displaying, demonstrating, or embodying the red ribbon ~ we’d welcome your ideas too! Can you envision a red ribbon made of kayaks, bicycles, or another clever original idea? |
