Dear Senator ________________, I strongly urge you to find alternatives to the tremendous cuts proposed to HIV programs in Vermont. Because these programs help Vermonters living with HIV/AIDS access medication, life-saving treatment, and vital social services they actually save taxpayer money by keeping people healthy. Additional proposed cuts threaten to reduce needle exchanges, which are critical to stopping new HIV infections. These cuts are too deep, affect programs that are too vital, affect too many Vermonters in serious need, and in the long run will create more costs than they save.
