Since 1988 World AIDS Day, observed on December 1 each year, has been dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic. This year, Vermont CARES, along with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and local college students, distributed around 3,500 red ribbons and HIV information at locations around the state. We also handed out red ribbons and condoms at pubs.

Vermont CARES held a memorial candle-lighting at 5:30pm on the lawn of the Unitarian Universalist Society in Burlington. Staff, supporters, and family members honored Vermonters and other individuals affected by the virus.
